A Study on the Moderating Effect of Female Elders¡¯Positive Social Network Function on the Relationship between the Frequency of Contacts with Social Networks and Successful Aging

Abstract
The objective of this study was to examine the relationship between female elders¡¯ social network and their successful aging. For this purpose, 313 female elders aged over 65 were surveyed using a questionnaire. According to the results of this study, first, the level of successful aging was higher in those with good health status, those with high economic level, those with a religion, and those whose age was young. Second, the frequency of contacts with social networks was found to have a positive effect on successful aging. That is, female elders¡¯ frequent social contacts with family, neighbors, etc. enhance the level of successful aging. Third, the positive function of social networks was found to moderate the effect of the frequency of contacts with social networks on successful aging. That is, when the positive function of social networks was high, it heightened the effect of the frequency of contacts with social networks on successful aging. In order to support female elders¡¯ successful aging, accordingly, it is suggested to develop programs for expanding social networks and strengthening the positive function of social networks.
